Hotel Rooms

The beaches are the star attraction on Samui, with east coast gems Chaweng and Lamai the two most popular for visiting tourists. North-facing Bang Rak, Bo Phut and Mae Nam are quieter with great views, while Choeng Mon is quaint. Here too you find the bizarre Big Buddha, but not as bizarre as the mummified monk at Wat Khunakaram. The south of the island retains its authentic Muslim coconut harvesting villages while the hilly interior offers waterfalls and viewpoints, along with Uncle Nim’s Rock Garden. Then there’s the strange genitalia-shaped rocks at Lamai south, which is so Thailand! Diving and beach activities are popular along with a spa treatment, while offshore trips will take you to the famous full moon parties of Koh Pha Ngan, the dive spots near Koh Pha Tao and the lovely Ang Thong Archipelago.
